WHE submission to Senate inquiry on women’s health
Women’s Health East calls for a stronger focus on equity in national women’s health reform
Women’s Health East has made a submission to the Australian Senate Select Committee on Women’s Health, highlighting the barriers many women in Melbourne’s east face in accessing timely, affordable and appropriate healthcare. Drawing on regional evidence and community experience, the submission calls for greater investment in postpartum care, women’s pain management, disability-inclusive healthcare, family violence prevention, and culturally responsive service navigation. It also highlights the importance of recognising the social and economic factors that shape women’s health outcomes, including cost-of-living pressures, caring responsibilities and access to services. The submission shares what we are hearing from women across Melbourne’s east and outlines practical recommendations to help ensure all women can access the care, support and information they need to live healthy lives.
