Persistent and outdated gender roles and stereotypes result in girls and boys being provided with different information about money, which can affect the way they relate to money and finances.

Women’s Health East has joined a partnership with Eastern Community Legal Centre, the Outer East PCP, Knox Council, Maroondah Council and Yarra Ranges Council to develop a program for women in Melbourne’s East to build their financial literacy and confidence.

The result is a series of five sessions that will be delivered online by a financial counsellor during September and October. Sessions will cover budgets, bills, superannuation, insurance, managing debt, scams and financial planning.

People can register online for the first four sessions:

  1. Session 1: Budget and Bills
  2. Session 2: Superannuation and Insurance
  3. Session 3: Managing Debt
  4. Session 4: Avoiding Scams
